We believe we have a specific calling as El Shaddai Church to help refresh, restore, equip and send out discipled pioneers of the Kingdom. As much as we’ve been discipled and grown into a Kingdom mindset, we want to pour that out and pass that on in discipling others. We believe we are called to be actively available to disciple Christians who may not even be part of our local church.
One way this discipleship calling is very practically worked out is the El Shaddai Christian School (ESCS) – a very important ministry of this church, offering classes from grade 00 to grade 12. The school has a clear focus to disciple its students, not to provide protected or elitist education to Christians. The school’s aim is to send out young people who have been equipped to fulfill God’s calling on their lives.
Coupled with its discipleship vision, ESCS provides a very strong emphasis on academic excellence. Its academic track follows the Western Cape Education Department curriculum until Grade 9, followed by the Cambridge IGCSE, HIGCSE and AS curriculum from Grade 10. This academic track is internationally well established and reputed.
We pioneer this ministry not because our community needs more schools, but because we as a church wholeheartedly believe that we have a calling to instil a new, Godly, Kingdom, pioneering mindset into the next generation in our community. If we’re successful, if we truly can send out a pioneering-minded, Kingdom generation from this school, imagine the change we could see, not just in Durbanville, but around the world.
