Bringing Reading to Life at Klipheuwel Primary
Last week the ESCC Klipheuwel Outreach team invited a special visitor to Klipheuwel Primary School. His name is Tippie the Elephant, from Penguin Random House.
Tippie is a fictional character, a beloved elephant, featured in a series of reading books for children, used in schools.
The books are designed to aid in sound development, linking sounds and letters, and encourage reading comprehension. Tippie stories are known for being engaging, with colourful illustrations–making learning to read fun and accessible for young children. The books are available in both English and Afrikaans.
After Tippie’s visit to Klipheuwel Primary he visited the pre-primary and junior primary children at El Shaddai Christian School. To the children’s delight he also met up with his distant cousin Ellie the Elephant.
The look in the children’s eyes, at both schools, was priceless and they had an unforgettable time.
