HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF TO SERVE
We are invested in releasing you within your area of gifting and talent as an act of worship to God. In most ministries, we would want you to find your pastoral care in your cell group and then offer your time to a ministry to which you feel called. In general, you will be scheduled to help on a rotational basis, as your time allows. As seasons change, it’s easy to switch and try out new areas of church life as you realise your gifts and search for your sweet spot.

Use your talent as a musician, sound engineer, or in media production. The worship team is made up of musicians and creatives that serve at all our gatherings, from Children’s Church through to our Sunday services. Practices take place on Thursday evenings. If you have a passion to see God move as His prophetic voice is released through many different art forms in our gatherings, we’d love to connect you into our teams.
This serving role is fast-paced and great for budding tech enthusiasts. If you feel called to volunteer at the sound desk, we’ll give you the necessary training for you to use our state-of-the-art equipment as an instrument to release worship at our gatherings.
We live stream our services to our YouTube account every Sunday. This provides another position for a budding tech enthusiast . You’ll look after the live feed platforms.
If you love catering or decorating, being involved with event planning or being hospitable by offering refreshments, sign up to help with our special services or events.
Teaching the Word in a creative and age-relevant way to large and or small groups, engage in small group discussion and life application. If teaching isn’t for you but you want to be involved on a Sunday, you can help by checking children in and out, set up the venues, worship facility, and audiovisual equipment or supervise smaller children.
Other skills
Whether you have handyman (or handywoman) skills and can help with practical tasks or you’re good at flower arranging, graphic design, video editing, photography or something else that doesn’t fit one of the categories above, chat with us about how you can contribute with the skills that you have.
Join the team of volunteers who meet on Tuesday or Thursday mornings (10am-12pm) or Wednesday afternoons (1:30pm-3:30pm) to sew and/or pack baby bags. Choose a time that suits you. More info here.
Donate suitable products that can be distributed in baby bags.
Every full nappy bag has the following contents:
A knitted blanket, a 0-3 month jersey set (beanie, pair of bootees, jersey), a 3-6 month jersey set, a small bottle of surgical spirits, maternity pads, 5 disposable nappies (size 1 or 2), 3 babygrows (0-3 months), a vest (0-3 months), a babygrow (3-6 months), a receiving blanket, 2 face cloths, 100g petroleum jelly, a bar of baby soap, a bar of soap for mom, a bib, cotton wool, a Power 2 You bag, 3 books and a soft toy.
Contact the church office to organise dropping off your goods.
A Bag of Love costs R900, a Bag of Hope R480 and a Bag of Dignity R260. However, any financial donation is welcome. (If you pay directly into the Church bank account, please reference your payment: “Bless A Baby”). You can donate through PayFast as well.
Learning to read and understand is a critical foundational skill for all types of learning. Our volunteers go to Klipheuwel once a week on a Wednesday or Friday morning (from 8am to 12pm) to help children with remedial reading. You must be able to speak Afrikaans and you’ll make use of an easy-to-learn Afrikaans reading programme called ‘Doen en Leer’.
Collect a bucket of dried legumes and vegetables from us, then follow an easy recipe and make soup for the children of Klipheuwel in the comfort of your home. The soup gets frozen and stored in a freezer at El Shaddai. Each week, the Klipheuwel volunteers take 15-litres of concentrated soup along with a donation of fresh sliced mushrooms from Denny, which gets added to the soup and a donation of bread from the Aurora Spar.
Collect your bucket of dried legumes from the ottoman in the foyer and once you’ve made the soup, deliver the bucket to the Streams counter (so that it can be frozen).
Sign up to join any of the four end-of-term outreaches at the school where a short gospel message is shared and the volunteers then enjoy entertaining and playing games with the children. At the end of the year each child gets a meal and a gift bag sponsored by ESCC members.

Ephesians 4:12-13
“To equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
