Adopt-a-Home
ESCC will be partnering with the Children’s Home during our annual D4J month for the Adopt-a-Home campaign and do a ‘makeover’ of one of the 12 housing units.
Our aim is to turn this ‘house’ into a home, providing a beautiful, ordered space where the children will feel safe and nurtured.
A dynamic and talented team from ESCC has come together and are hard at work making plans. However, we do need more help.
WHAT WE HAVE
- A team to manage this project. Thank you to the 13 volunteers who have put this project together!
- Donations. Thanks you to everyone who responded. Your donation is what is making this make-over possible!
WHAT WE NEED
Manpower. Volunteers (all ages welcome) who are available during various slots on either Saturday, 25 May, Sunday 26 May, Wednesday 29 May (before & after voting):
- 5 x volunteers to help with cleaning
- 3 volunteers to join the handy man/DIY/painting team
- 3 volunteers to clean up the courtyard & yard around the house
- 2 volunteers to assist in general where necessary – moving furniture/carrying tools & equipment/make tea etc.
This will be a stand-alone project and part of the D4J Month of May with specific focus on reaching in to reach out.
(Below is are some photos of the current state of the rooms and further down you’ll see a mood board image of what we’d like to achieve).
The Children’s Home wishlist includes double sets of bed linen, towels, cutlery and crockery for 12 children, but it takes more to change this space from being purely functional into a welcoming home.
If you can’t be part of the workforce but would still like to make a donation, you can make an EFT payment to the ESCC account with the reference: AdoptAHome
