Introducing Cause Connect
Cause Connect (The Cause Connect Trust) serves as the welfare and social upliftment arm of El Shaddai Christian Church . It oversees our mercy ministries to ensure good governance and maximum impact. Its mission is to serve the poor, the disenfranchised, the downtrodden, the hungry, as well as orphans and widows – connecting these causes to sustainable solutions of compassionate care and societal upliftment.
Cause Connect was birthed when a need was identified for more formal management support of existing ESCC ministries — some of them well-established, such as Bless a Baby and the Klipheuwel Reading Programme. The foundation had to be rooted in governance beyond reproach, while also aligning with our mission statement (Matthew 28:18-20).
“It has the potential to unlock Kingdom finance to increase our missional reach. We feel it’s time to grow our financial capacity for our deeds of faith,” – Susan Böhler.
The elders worked together on a vision and value statement for the works of mercy, which was distilled into three pillars: mercy, justice and grace. After the statutory documents were drawn up, the application went through the Department of Justice, a process that took quite some time. We are grateful that it’s now complete and celebrated the official launch on Sunday, 31 August.
Cause Connect is officially registered as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), and also section 18A approved by the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
Currently, Cause Connect’s areas of impact include: Bless a Baby, Klipheuwel Primary School, Young Adults Upliftment Programme, Kin Culture, Durbanville Children’s Home, Compassionate Care, Missions and Missionaries, Education, and Crisis Response.
After sharing the news about Cause Connect on Sunday, we celebrated and enjoyed fellowship over a beautiful (and delicious) cake baked by Jenny Trancel from Streams Café.
We look forward to sharing more stories of how Cause Connect is impacting the world around us for His Kingdom.
