Reflections from the 2025 D4j Prayer Room

After spending an hour praying, one teacher decided to remain in the prayer room and quietly do some marking, as she enjoyed the space so much. A family came to the prayer room on a Friday evening and after hearing  the Youth gathering in the hall, their two sons decided to join Youth the first time 🙌. Below we share a few experiences that people had when visiting the 2025 D4J Prayer Room, hosted at ESCC.

Yes, yes, julle! 🙋‍♂️  Thought I’d mention I went to the prayer room today, and as soon as I walked in I felt the weight of the Spirit fall on me – a crazy crazy prayer set got put in, to say the least. I would definitely recommend going through! – ESCC Past Pupil

“As I worked in the D4J prayer room all I thought about as I was embraced by the calmness and fragrance of the room was my need to be Mary resting at the feet of Jesus and not Martha. Little did I know that the theme for the prayer chain was a call to sit at His feet like Mary. To cast all cares on Jesus and step out of this busy life that robs us of joy and peace.” – Enih Stone

My daughter is a third-year LLB student. She has applied to several law firms since the beginning of the year to do vacation work, with the hope of securing a two-year article contract.

She applied to a law firm in December 2024 and received an invite for an interview. The interview was scheduled for the morning of 29 May.  A few hours later, she received an email to say that she was chosen for the vacation work in Pretoria, with all expenses paid. My husband and I had both been in the prayer room that morning, sitting at His feet. Praise God!” – Denise

As I reflected on my time in the prayer room—sitting at the feet of Jesus—I pictured, in my mind’s eye, tongues of fire resting on each person sitting silently before Him. In that moment, I sensed His gentle instruction: Keep waiting for the promise of the Father.

I felt led to read Genesis 26, where Isaac reopened the wells of his father Abraham.  In praying about this, I had a sense of inner wells being unblocked – personal, generational, and prophetic wells, both for individuals and corporately over the Church.

This led me to believe Genesis 26:18-26 is a promise of the Father for us.  That, despite opposition and adversity El Shaddai will be likened to “Rehoboth”, a place where God’s favour, blessing, growth and expansion will be increased, far more than ever before.  – Vickie

And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, saying, “For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.” Genesis 26:18-26

“So awesome to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to the Spirit”🙌🏻💓 – Joy du Toit

“From time in the prayer room: I had never considered how Mary would have carried that fragrance through the devastating time of Jesus’ death and I was confronted by what ‘perfume’ I carry…where have I been spending time? Thank you for the guidelines”. – Jenny Webster

“Some youth leaders spent time in the prayer room and one, Michael, said he journaled more than ever & loved it!” – Liam du Toit
